Drug Uses
ActoPlus Met should be taken by patients with type 2 diabetes. It is not intended and can be harmful for patients with type 1 diabetes. Use ActoPlus Met alone or as s supplement to other medication indicated by your doctor. ActoPlus Met helps your liver to produce less sugar and the intestines to absorb it. It also helps to absorb the insulin produced by your body.
How Taken
ActoPlus Met should be taken with meals at the same time every day. Always finish the full course of treatment, even if you feel better. Consult your doctor about the dosage. Usually people start with 15–30 mg a day.
MissedDose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 59 86 °F (15 30 °C), in a tightly closed container. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep ActoPlus Met out of the reach of children.
More Information
In rare cases Actoplus Met can lead to a serious condition lactic acidosis. Patients with serious kidney problems are more likely to face these problems. Problems with liver, kidneys and heart failure highly increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Patients should not mix alcohol with ActoPlus Met as it increases the negative exposure to the liver. Elderly patients should take ActoPlus Met very carefully. ActoPlus Met is not recommended to people over 80 old. Avoid ActoPlus Metif you suffer from severe infections or low blood oxygen level.
Warnings/Precautions
Before taking ActoPlus Met, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances, if you have kidney function problems, low blood volume, or low blood sodium levels, if you are planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding. Do not take ActoPlus Met after the third month of pregnancy. It may cause injury or death to the fetus. If you become pregnant, contact your doctor right away. It is not known if ActoPlus Met is found in breast milk. Do not breastfeed while taking ActoPlus Met. Some medicines may interact with ActoPlus Met, therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Patients who take medicine for high blood pressure often feel tired or run down for a few weeks after starting treatment. Be sure to take your medicine even if you may not feel "normal." Tell your doctor if you develop any new symptoms. ActoPlus Met should not be used in children younger than 6 years old, safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are– Anxiety, chest pain, diarrhea, dizziness, flu, headache, heartburn/indigestion, muscle injury, tiredness, muscle pain, nausea, nervousness, runny nose, sinus abnormality, sore throat, stomach pain, swelling, upper respiratory tract infection, urinary tract infection, vomiting. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately– allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), chest pain, fast heartbeat, fainting.
